Our Story and Gallery
Our Story:
StainlessGrillGrate.com was started by a father and son from Dayton, Ohio to solve two problems. First, their Weber Genesis grill grate was rusting away and it became no longer safe to grill on. Being in the midst of the Great Recession, rather than buying a whole new grill they decided to make a replacement of their own. That grill grate is still in use today, over 13 years later (picture taken after installation in their grill)
The second problem was that the Great Recession hit the Midwest (and manufacturing businesses) particularly hard. Manufacturing businesses in the area were going out of business left and right, and their business was getting very close to the same fate. After a family member saw their new grill grate and requested one of his own, they thought:
The second problem was that the Great Recession hit the Midwest (and manufacturing businesses) particularly hard. Manufacturing businesses in the area were going out of business left and right, and their business was getting very close to the same fate. After a family member saw their new grill grate and requested one of his own, they thought:
"Maybe other people have this same need."
From there the decision was easy. With the help of a friend they made a website, and so began StainlessGrillGrate.com
They soon learned that there was a big need that they could fill. Most of their customers simply could not find a replacement grill grate on the market that is their grate's size. Or, if they purchase a replacement from the manufacturer, they know that within a year or two of grilling, they will start having rust chips break off and get into their food. Then they will be back in the same position they were in before. |
StainlessGrillGrate.com is here to replace your old, rusty grate -- or to manufacture you a custom sized grate for your outdoor custom BBQ. As you can see below, whether your grate is small or large, we can make a grate to fit your grill.

Grill 1 - 10 year update
Over 13 years later, and Grill Grate #1 is still in use. Full disclosure, this was after a good, thorough cleaning.
You will see discoloration and cooking on your custom grill grate will show. It will not stay shiny for 13 years, and food particles will not just fall off like on the infomercials for the latest and greatest pot or pan.
But as you can see, the underlying product is just as strong and "Stainless" as day 1. The strongest "scrubber" we used was sand paper, just to get off some hard to clean char. The rest was just soap and water, a scouring pad, and elbow grease. There is some pitting on the bars, but no rust, no weld failures, and no warping. We look forward to the next 13 years!
The keys to keeping your grate going for 10+ years are: use regularly, clean regularly with soap and water (or a scour pad if it's too much for a regular sponge, we use scotch-brite heavy duty scour pads), and keeping the grate covered or out of the weather. That's pretty much it!
